Welcome New Students!
Congratulations on your acceptance to Bard High School Early College (BHSEC). We are delighted that you will be joining us in the fall.
We start the fall semester with a Writing and Thinking Workshop where you will work closely with a small group of students and one of our teachers. You will learn to read and listen more thoughtfully, to articulate ideas, to review your own work critically and, most basically, to recognize the link between thought and expression.
Schools will receive High School Admissions Round 1 results beginning Wednesday, March 8th 2017. Please contact your guidance counselor for specific questions.
In completing the registration you must present the following to BHSEC:
- 3 Proofs of Residency ( Examples Include: Valid Drivers License or ID with current address, Lease or Mortgage, Current Utility Bill)

New Student Orientation
A matriculation packet will be mailed home after April 24th. Please bring this completed packet with you on Tuesday, May 9th.
All incoming students will need to sit for a math placement exam. Those with any previous experience in Spanish, Chinese or Latin will also need to take a foreign language placement exam. Each exam is an hour long so students should expect to be here for 2 hours. Students without any previous foreign language experience do NOT need to sit for a foreign language placement exam. After the exams students will take a picture for their BHSEC identification cards.

Hello and greetings from the Music Department at BHSEC. Congratulations on your acceptance to our school! In an effort to learn more about your past musical experiences and help you transition into our school’s music program, we would like ALL incoming 9th grade students (and new 10th grade students) to fill out the following questionnaire. BHSEC Queens has a strong music program to offer students and all are welcome! Please click here to access the questionnaire.
The Summer Bridge program is an informal introduction to our school and is intended to familiarize accepted students with BHSECQ’s academic culture. It is also an opportunity for incoming students to get to know their fellow classmates, meet our faculty, and attend classes in the arts, Spanish, Chinese, and Latin. By sampling our Foreign Languages and Electives, students will be able to fill out the Preference Form for Foreign Languages and Electives due Friday, June 30. Breakfast will be available from 8:30-9:00 a.m. and lunch from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in the school’s 7th floor cafeteria. Families will receive a detailed program later in June. Please register by June 1st, 2017.
