Mia Brett has a Ph.D. in American history from Stony Brook University. She specializes in the legal construction of race and gender. Her dissertation entitled, “The Murdered Jewess: Jewish Immigration and the Problem of Citizenship in the Courtroom in Late Nineteenth-Century New York” examines citizenship and discrimination in criminal courtrooms for Eastern European Jewish Immigrants.
