From our Executive Director

Dear Hudson Valley Students and Families-

At Bard Early College Hudson Valley we offer two years of an early college, dually accredited program in the 11th and 12th grades.  We offer our students two sites to attend early college classes: one in Hudson, NY, and our new location within the Dutchess BOCES site at Salt Point.

Students enroll in college-level classes and are offered intellectual challenges equivalent to those found on leading college campuses across the country—be it a first year seminar course  or a course in Environmental Science. The unique partnership between Bard College,  the Dutchess BOCES and Hudson City School District enables us to offer this educational opportunity at no cost to our students who are enrolled in one of our participating component school districts.

BEC Hudson Valley students earn up to 26 credits at the completion of two years and receive personalized, intensive academic advising  to guide them through the process of applying to their chosen college. Nearly all of our early college graduates transfer to a four-year college to complete a bachelor’s degree.

It has been a privilege to have been involved in BEC Hudson Valley since its inception in 2017. Our program has expanded to meet the diverse interests of our growing  community of students. Now, more than ever, a liberal arts education rooted in critical inquiry, collaborative learning, and civic engagement is essential to building a more sustainable, equitable, and inclusive society. I invite  you to take a moment to explore our website and learn more about our program, or visit one of our open houses held in the late spring and early fall.

Best regards,
Molly C. Albrecht, Executive Director
