From our Leadership Team

Dear Hudson Valley Students and Families-

At Bard Early College Hudson Valley we offer two years of an early college, dually accredited program in the 11th and 12th grades. Because of a unique partnership between Bard College, the Dutchess BOCES and Hudson City School District, this opportunity is offered at no cost to students enrolled in one of our participating component districts. Our students attend high school classes at their local public school in the morning and then early college classes in one of two sites: one in Hudson, NY, and one within the Dutchess BOCES site at The Salt Point Education Center. After two years, they have earned close to an entire year’s worth of college credits. Nearly all of our graduates transfer to a four-year college to complete their bachelor’s degree; our students have been accepted into some of the country’s leading colleges and universities, including Mount Holyoke, Bryn Mawr, Bennington, Ithaca, Sarah Lawrence, The New School, FIT, and Brown.

Bard College has a tradition of increasing access to liberal arts education, and we are proud to be part of the Bard Network. Around the world, close to 6,000 students — including graduate students in East Jerusalem, early college students in New Orleans, and incarcerated undergraduates in six New York State correctional facilities — are earning Bard College credits. A large percentage of our students — at BEC Hudson Valley and across the Bard Network — are the first in their family to attend college.

As teachers, we know the transformative power of education, and are constantly driven by the College’s mission to, “inspire curiosity, a love of learning, idealism, and a commitment to the link between higher education and civic participation.” If you would like to learn more about our program, please send us an email.
