A message from Executive Director, Molly Albrecht
Dear students and families:
In response to general public health concerns related to COVID-19 and the related closure of schools in the Hudson Valley, classes for Bard Early College Hudson Valley are moving to a remote platform anchored by Google Classroom effective immediately throughout the academic year.
Students: Please report to your Google Classrooms where zoom links for each class is provided. Please remember, attendance in these classes is just as important as in-person attendance, and your college credits cannot be granted without it.
Parents/guardians: Books and reading packets for the remainder of the semester have been sent home. We have surveyed our students to ensure they have access to the necessary technology, and they have registered for their courses on Google Classroom. Instructors are prepared (and eager) to teach remote courses and we have stressed to students that their attendance in these online platforms is as essential and expected as their attendance has been in their in-person class meetings.
In closing, it is important to acknowledge our professors’ unwavering commitment to connecting with each one of our early college students. Our classes are synchronous and students are afforded an opportunity to connect with our early college staff on Fridays to engage with everything from social emotional strategies to academic support.
In this time of uncertainty, there are many unknowns. Yet there are certain enduring truths that we know for sure: the power of writing and of belonging to a community of learners can help students develop the tools they need to change the world.
